Farm Feature: Little Reds Honey Farm

Little Reds Honey Farm

Little Reds Honey Farm was started in 2013 by Husband-and-wife Matthew and Joy Schultz. Both of our parents were in the bee business so we have been around bees are whole lives. We started with a few hundred hives and now currently run around 10,000 hives. We take our hives to California for the winter to pollinate the Almond Orchards and Pollinate the cranberry Baughs in the spring in Wisconsin. We run our hives for honey in the summertime and also pollinate local apple orchards as well. We sell our honey at 5 different stores around Reedsburg Wisconsin where we currently run our hives. We also sell at the Dubuque Farmers Market on Saturday Mornings. We bring different varieties of honey to the market depending on what the bees gather the nectar from because that changes the taste and color of the honey so there is many different varieties and flavors of honey. Throughout the season we will do different tasks with the bees, currently, we are making packages and nucs to sell to customers that want to sell their own hives. Next, we will put on the honey supers and the bees will fill them with honey and we will return to collect the boxes and extract the honey. We absolutely love being beekeepers and providing an amazing quality product for consumers and offering pollination so we can have things like apples and Almonds.
